Amy McCoy, Labor/Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor & Breastfeeding Peer Counselor
Amy started her career in Lactation as an apprentice with an amazing IBCLC and Doula Lucia Massey at The Baby Cafe in Athen’s Georgia. After receiving her CLC she continued to offer breastfeeding classes and breastfeeding support groups up until February 2016 in Athens. From 2014-2016 Amy working in a very high needs WIC clinic as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. During her time at WIC, Amy became very passionate about maternal support during labor and the postpartum period due to the birth stories her clients shared with her.
Here is what a professional peer has to say about her: “A few days of training and working with her was a breath of fresh air for me and for those working in the clinic. It was as if someone just said “go” and moms with latch issues were having their latch assessed, empowered to discover breastfeeding, and connections were made. Her energy, counseling skills, and the way she related to clients were like I had never experienced before.” written by Rachel Jones Mapp WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, CLC, M.Ed.
